LUCKY, ISN'T IT, that most laptop thieves only have eyes for the hardware?

For, if some thieving rogue could combine a knack for nicking with a spot of hackery-pokery he'd make it rich.

The latest laptop to have disappeared from a parked car and caused a storm just happened to contain Prince Charles' vital statistics.

A beancounter in the employ of payroll firm Moorepay, which handles wages for Charles's Duchy of Cornwall estate was the victim of the theft in which the bonny Prince's bank account number, sort code and national insurance number were spirited away.

In a statement, the firm said the laptop, "could pose a security threat if a technical expert was able to breach its password protection."

Prince Charles earned £15 million from the Duchy of Cornwall last year.

The Sunday People reckoned Charlie was "reeling" after the theft earlier this month. It quoted an insider as saying, "He's obviously very worried his personal details could be in the wrong hands," but probably made that up.

"It's not every day the future King of England's bank details appear to have disappeared." µ
