Yahoo poaches ex-Microsoft exec

Show us how to run media sites
Tuesday, 4 November 2008, 08:31

SEARCH ENGINE outfit Yahoo, which felt that its merger with Microsoft had nothing to offer the company, has just poached one of the top Voles from Redmond.

Microsoft executive Jeff Dossett will teach Yahoo how to run its news and entertainment sites in the United States.

Yahoo seems to like having former Voles in this role. Dossett replaces another ex-Microsoft bloke Scott Moore.

Moore, who spent the past three years steering some of the most-read sections of Yahoo's Web site, is the latest Yahoo executive to leave what is rapidly becoming a sinking ship as the outfit struggles to keep up with the Internet.

More than 10 per cent of the company's work force will be collecting their pink slips before the end of the year. One of the reasons that Yahoo gave for not accepting a huge about of cash for its failing shares from Microsoft was that it was protecting staff jobs. ยต
