THE MAN BEHIND the cartoon god game the Sims, is to develop a game where players have to evolve a race of beings.

Will Wright told the Beeb's kids channel here that the game will be called Spore and starts you off having to evolve an amoeba in a 2D universe.

Wright said he wants people to create their own world, once the player has chosen how their creatures will look, the technology will accurately work how out they will behave and move.

After a bit of evolution, the creatures will end up travelling in space, looking for intelligent life. When they find it, it will probably not be a race of beings that spend all their time in front of computers playing at being virtual gods. Let's hope they never run into human beings.
