FOUR SUITS from DRAM giant Hynix will pay $250,000 each in fines and go to gaol for being members of a memory cartel.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Justice Department found Samsung, Hynix, Infineon and Micron were all part of the price fixing which happened between 1999 and 2002.

Micron execs won't go to gaol because they cooperated with the DoJ.

The Hynix executives are DS Kim, CK Chung, KC Suh and CY Choi. Each gets eight months, seven months, six months and five months in a federal gaol. Chung was director of global strategic marketing sales.

IP memory firm Rambus (tick: RMBS) looks like it may benefit from the DoJ investigation. It has long claimed that the Dramurai tried to shut it out of the memory market. µ
