JAPANESE KIDS have flown a plane which uses AA batteries as its power source.

They have claimed the flight is a first but for all we know it is a last, as well.

According to the Scotsman, the plane - a 44KG 31-metre baby flew 391 metres before the 160 AA batteries conked out.

The silly season is expected to increase its intensity next week, while this week in Blighty will be marked by "phew what a scorcher stories", with the temperature set to hit 35° C in London this Wednesday. µ
