Tue Jul 18 2006, 08:54
HAVING SOLVED its drugs exporting problems, the government of Colombia has decided that cracking DRM will be met with the full force of the law.

President Alvaro Uribe has decided to increase both the maximum prison term, from five to eight years, and the minimum term from two to four years.

Basically it means that if you sit down and work out a way to crack a CD or DVD you could be going down for a long time. Also if you copy a CD you could also go to jail.

Colombia is probably aiming to become the Recording Industry Association of America's ideal nation of the month.
