FERRARI SPONSOR Acer decided not to renew its contract with UK distribution outfit Northamber.

Acer UK Gianpiero Morbello said last night, "to be an Acer distributor, you need to move volume. Northamber didn't."

Acer claims a year of massive growth in Europe in 2006 and says that while the market for notebooks in the UK grew by 17 per cent in terms of volume, the firm notched up some 57 per cent growth. This was in line of its stated aim of growing at 20 per cent faster than the market.

"But last year results with Northamber were very poor," Morbello said. "The contract was not renewed." µ
