Wikipedia gives you malware

INSECURITY outfit Sophos says that crackers are using the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia to spread viruses.

The German language version of the site contained an article on a new flavour of the 'blaster' worm. However when anyone tried to download a patch from the article they found that the 'fix' was another bit of malicious code.

According to tech2, To make matters worse, hackers sent spam to German computer users, claiming to come from Wikipedia, and directing them to information about the 'new worm'.

Wikipedia initially removed the page, but not the history and it appeared that the spammers are just referring their potential victims to the old page.

Now the outfit appears to have pulled its socks up and done an "everywhere girl" on the page and wiped it completely.
