That's according to market research firm iSuppli, which issued its preliminary figures for DRAM supplier ranking during 2004.
How did this happen? According to iSuppli it managed to get to second place because it junked its non memory operations and concentrated on DRAM and other memory products.
In contradistinction, as a Lewis Carroll character might put it, Micron took the opposite approach and diversified.
The firm said the most impressive performer amongst the Dramurai was plucky Taiwanese firm Powerchip Semiconductor. Its sales grew by a rather astounding 164.1% year on year.
But there's gloom afoot in 2005. Like other memory analysts, iSuppli reckons that DRAM market growth this year will be much slower - as a result of changing market conditions. µ
