MANY USERS like myself continue using the integrated Mozilla Suite browser and e-mail client program from the Mozilla Foundation, as well as Netscape 7.2 also built on top of the Mozilla Suite. Here is a personal list (in no particular order) of the "must have" extensions that can be installed on top of both Mozilla Suite 1.7.x and Netscape 7.2. I hope some of you find them of interest:

1. LINKY: Opens all links in a page (or selection!) in new tabs or windows
http://downloads.mozdev.org/linky/linky-260.xpi

2. BLOGTHIS!: If you have a blog at Google's Blogger.com, this extension lets you create a blog entry that links to the currently loaded web page, and includes the selected/highlighted text (if any)

3. ALWAYS REMEMBER PASSWORD: makes all web sites to always remember your password using the password manager. Some sites like Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, and banking sites instruct the browser to never allow your password manager to retain your information. This lets you disable such security, which is handy if you're the only user of the machine in a controlled environment.

4. GoogleBar for Mozilla Suite: a Google accepted, independent implementation of the Google Toolbar for Mozilla

5. The A9 Toolbar: Official toolbar for Amazon.com's A9 search engine

6. The "Preferences Toolbar": kill flash, clear cookies, change the browser ID string "on the fly", and much more with an easily reachable toolbar. Show/hide it on windows by pressing [F8]

7. Leech!: Lets you download all files linked from a web page (including .jpg, .zip, etc -user selectable extensions-) using the open source "WGET" file retriever. This one stopped working with recent mozilla builds so for your convenience I've uploaded a fixed build which can be installed successfully on Mozilla 1.7.x and also added some needed functionality: bandwidth throttling! (yes, this was my first Mozilla xpi fix/hack! - hooray for the so-called 'lazy journos'! ;). Note: wget 1.9 or higher must be already installed in your system path!.

8. StumbleUpon Toolbar: rate every site you visit (if you want to do so) and share comments with other visitors - (warning: it's addictive!).

9. Word Count: Count the number of words in a whole web page or selected text.

10. FlashBlock: replaces Flash objects with empty squares retaining the object's original size. To run each flash object on a page, just click on each flash icon!.

11. BugMeNot Extension: works by obtaining public user name and passwords combinations from the bugmenot.com web site. Allows users to bypass compulsory registration and login to read the free news stories. Just right-click over a username/password entry form and select BugMeNot!. (note: make sure you're not breaking the TOS of a site before using this).

11. Web Developer Extension: must-have set of tools for everyone who does web development.

12. Dictionary Search: search the highlighted word or phrase in online dictionaries
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/dictionarysearch/dictionarysearch-0.9.1-fx+mz+tb.xpi

13. MOZIMAGE image browser: allows easy browsing of images
http://downloads.mozdev.org/mozimage/mozimage.xpi

14. Tuxhealth: by clicking on the "tux" (linux penguin) icon next to the url, you'll be able to see what operating system the web server visited is running, as well as go stright to site info from Alexa.com or Netcraft. http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/tuxhealth

Know of some other must-have extension for the Mozilla Suite that should have made it to my list?, let me know. ยต
