Dell becomes style guru

STYLE FANS have a new company to worship - forget Cupertino, these days its all happing in Round Rock.

Yes, Dell has managed to come up with the sexiest product of 2008 so far in the form of the Dell Crystal LCD monitor. It's a 22-inch panel, with fairly standard specs, mounted on a perspex frame - with built-in speakers, touch buttons and minimalistic stylings.

There's a polished metal tripod stand, which looks gorgeous, and the overall effect is very futuristic.

The downside? It will set you back $1200, roughly four times the price of the standard 22-inch models Dell sells. The design may be great, but is it worth paying $900 for a bit of plastic?

Those who put beauty over bank balance can find them here. µ

only a decade after apple...

wow, and only a decade after apple... nice...

I am no apple fanboi, but damn, am I supposed to get excited about a regular lcd with a piece of glass stuck to the front and 4 dinky speakers with the guts clearly visible? apple did the same design back in the days of the G3 or G4, this is just sad...
