Wed Aug 30 2006, 09:55
AT&T'S ONLINE store has been hacked and more than 19,000 customer details have been leaked.

Details stolen include credit card numbers of those who purchased DSL gear through AT&T's Web site.

The outfit has apologised to the customers and said it will work closely with law enforcement to bring the data thieves to book.

The hack happened over the weekend and resulted in the store being shut down. AT&T said it had notified credit card companies and was contacting the affected customers via e-mail, phone and letter.

It says it will pay for credit monitoring services for customers whose accounts have been hit to protect them from identity fraud.
