As it alerted its members succinctly last week: "Following our recent announcements about the implementation of the proposed fair usage system, we have taken the decision to not implement fair usage."
Instead, the company says it will move towards a 30:1 contended service from its current 50:1 service.
The company had been promising a fair-use policy for some time and its decision to shelve the idea had customers running about like confused chickens scratching in the dirt for the tasty worm of enlightenment, we learned.
Adslguide.org.uk ran a piece on the confusion which was promptly slapped down by PlusNet's legal heavies.
Customers are apparently wondering how their use of services will be regulated without the fair use policy PlusNet told them was necessary before deciding it wasn't.
In its downed piece, adslguide said it had seen "worries" from people confused as to what PlusNet tariff they should be on. Some Premier range punters, which was unmetered between 1am and 8am, are now worried their usage patterns may fall foul of the new system, said the piece.
Other users may regrade but PlusNet is not doing this regrade automatically, which, said the site, may mean that people who miss the news or any PlusNet emails on the matter could be paying more than they need too "for many months".
It is not yet clear which of adslguide's claims caused PlusNet's legal heavies to splutter in their tea-cups and reach for the type-writer. ยต
