Microsoft into VoIP by January

Ballmer on the blower

MICROSOFT'S shy, retiring and softly spoken CEO, Steve 'sounds of silence' Ballmer has said the software giant will be involved in the voice over IP market by January.

Whispering to a Microsoft conference in Tokyo, Ballmer said that although Vole had released software with VoIP functionality, the technology would now be incorporated across the company's operating system, desktop applications and server software.

Uncharacteristically shouting his new trademark, "Vista, vista, vista", Ballmer said Vole was targeting the market for server software allowing voice conversations and video conferencing over Internet networks.

He said he was so enjoying the run up to the launch of Vista, he never wanted to see a five year gap between the next one.

He ended his speech by saying "Thank you, thank you, thank you," he said, adding "Vista, Vista, Vista." We suspect the Japanese mixers would be recording line for Ballmer's next follow-up to his hit single "Developers, developers, developers."
