Apple Intel fan club starts

X86: What an admirable architecture
Saturday, 3 September 2005, 11:28
APPLE'S OS X fan club has setup shop over at www.osx86project.org. It seems that there is now a complete install disc floating around the BitTorrent networks that allow you to install OS X on any x86 platform and yes that includes AMD.

You can find an HCL list over here that the guys have put together.

They have also put together a FAQ which you can find here. On a more interesting note, anyone looking for Windows compatibility? According to their site, "by adapting the Wine compatibility layer for Windows, some enterprising developers have developed a method to run Windows programs under OS X for Intel.

While porting Wine to OS X x86 requires some serious tweaking (which still results in some unstable programs), work such as this opens a wide range of possibilities for the future." ยต
