Openoffice.org attacks Microsoft

Alienating everyone

MICROSOFT'S LATEST attack on Open Sauce has been slammed by the Openoffice people.

Louis Suarez-Potts, a community manager at Openoffice.org, told Computer World that Vole's claims that the product breached 45 of its patents is a "desperate act."

He said he did not know what motivated Microsoft to risk so much with a position that can only serve to alienate enterprise customers, as well as millions of people who use Linux.

Microsoft has not said which patents it believes have been violated by Open Office and apparently it is leaving the world to guess.

Suarez-Potts said that it seemed that the claim was extraordinary on Vole's behalf.
