Nvidia quietly introduces 7100 GS

The new 6200 TC replacement
Thursday, 7 September 2006, 22:21
NVIDIA quietly introduced its next generation 7100 GS card. It is a passive card, yeah, Nvidia can be passive, that is supposed to replace the cheapest of them all, ye venerable 6200 TC. Xpervision is one of the first partners to introduce the card.

The card should cost €79 including VAT and will come with 128 or 256 MB of DDR 2 memory. In Turbo cache mode, the card will be able to address as much as 512 MB of memory but you will need to have at least 1024 MB of system memory to do it. . This means that the card physically has 256 MB of memory and it will address an additional 256 MB from the System memory and it will act as it has 512 MB. It will support the SLI mode. The memory works with 128 bit bus.

The card is based on G72 chip but we don't know the chips speed. We are of course talking about PCIe card. It should be available shortly. ยต
