Microsoft preps attack on Google

The Attack of the Killer Vole

I-am-a-terrifying-rock-vole--watch-out-google--you-apos-re-next A REPORT SAID that Microsoft's next target will be ever popular site Google, which apparently the software firm views as a competitor to its business.

According to a report on MSNBC -- a joint venture in which Microsoft has a big share, Google is becoming "more and more" a competitor to the Vole.

The news service quotes the director of MSN, Bob Visse, to substantiate its claim.

Visse, who presides over the loss making venture, said that Microsoft can give consumers a better product and a "better user experience" than Google.

And, he added, Microsoft is actively looking at doing just that.

Microsoft has already got a deal with Overture and what this is all about is of course paid ads on the MSN service, estimated to bring in over $500 million a year.

So Visse is not really interested in a better user experience than Google can offer, just interested in a better revenue stream for Microsoft.

And, realistically, would Microsoft be able to ever come up with a lean interface like Google which has little HTML overhead and is used to test whether the Interweb is working or not?

And is Microsoft's search engine much good finding stuff? We think Google is a tad more accurate.

This is the Vole in Demented Mode. Mr Visse should get out more, and not shelter in the little burrow his firm seems to occupy.
