Intel's knuckles rapped over AMD pricing practices
FTC expected to issue advice

A JAPANESE WEB reports that Intel will be found to have violated antimonopoly laws after it gave favourable
prices to customers as long as they didn't use AMD processors.
According to the Yomiuri Shimbun, the Japanese Fair Trade Commission (FTC) will tell Intel to halt the practice and will ask the chip giant how it intends to remedy the practice.
Large OEMs, according to the report, were given discounts if they agreed not to use processors from other manufacturers. While AMD is the largest of these competitors, it is possible that other makers such as Transmeta and Via were included in the scope of the investigation, which led to officials raiding Intel offices last year. µ
