Intel puts together modding guide

Mr Guy has a nice home

SOMEONE from Intel who describes himself as the Digital Home Guy has put together an article about how to build your own PC.

This is one in a series of articles from Mr Digital Home Guy which includes installing wireless routers, digital media adaptors, wireless Internet cameras and other stuff.

Mr Guy reckons that it will take around four and a half hours to do your bit of modding, and we can tell you from our own experience that it can play havoc with your freshly painted fingernails.

But it's a reasonable guide and tells you what should be on your shopping list. Mr Guy recommends 500 watt power supply.

It's a useful guide. Be prepared to get frustrated. And don't screw up, because a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition costs $999 and that's when you buy them in quantities of 1,000.

The guide is here.

We read his piece about installing a wireless router too. It has a difficulty rating of four out of 10. That's three too many, in our opinion. The difficulty rating for assembling a PC is eight out of 10. Try and leave your mallet a way away from your build project if you get easily frustrated by doing fiddly things, or if your fingernails get chipped. µ
