SIS mini-DTX board is too big for its box

Computex 007 Back to the drawing board

SIS IS SHOWING OFF A neat little motherboard arranged in a mini-DTX layout.

The board is based on the SIS 761GX chipset and adhere's to AMD's Churchill spec. Gigabyte also had a hand in fitting the chipset into the spec.

A spokesSIS said the tiddly board was designed for home media centres, although the board's designer protested that it could also find a lot more applications than that.

The firm had knocked up a quick home media server in which to display the board in action. Unfortunately once the heat sink was stuck onto the board's processor it stuck out of the side of the case by about an inch.

Cases for the design are still in development it seems, but SIS had an old box or two lying about and bunged the board in one of these for illustrative purposes.

Our spokesSIS didn't find the fact that the shrunken design spilled out of the chassis quite as amusing as we did. µ
