THE CEO of AMD will open a South African branch of his company this coming Monday.

According to IT-Online, Hector Ruiz is on a whistle stop tour of the country and he's going to appoint Imi Mosaheb as the country manager when he gets there.

After opening the office, the wire reckons he will jet down to schmooze South African president Thabo Mbeki. There's more here. µ

* AND IN other but probably unrelated news, the same wire said Ingram Micro will open a branch in South Africa too, here.
