Hexus booth savagely vandalised

Computex 2006 Tom's and The INQ to the rescue
Friday, 9 June 2006, 15:52
I AM SAD to inform you that the Hexus booth at Computex was savagely vandalised and defaced today in Taipei, a city normally known for its safety.

The news may come as a shock, and the pictures may prove somewhat disturbing to viewers with less than strong constitutions.

Patrick Schmidt and my good self were walking through the aisles discussing the morality of our mutual charity work, mainly centring along the lines of how much time one should devote to helping orphans when an international disaster happened. We turned a corner and witnessed the horrible scene above. Leaping to action, we chased the vandals off, and as you can see, we quickly restored order to that corner of Hall 1.

Sadly, there were no other eyewitnesses to this event, and no evidence of the perpetrators was ever found. If only one of the security cameras had a video of the event, we might have something to go on in bringing these people to justice.

Not-a-camera--really

Not wanting this kind of absolute mayhem to overwhelm the city of Old Taipei, we figured a loud and clear message to the perpetrators was in order. The picture below should point out how such crime is wrong, and send a stern message to the children of the city. The local constabulary seems to think it was a pre-arranged mafia thing, but since they can only speak Chinese, and neither Patrick Schmidt or I do, it could have been something else.

Either way, this case is still ongoing. Or as the Brits say, going on. I will not rest until the people who did this barbaric act are in chains. With people like this roaming the streets, the city of Old Taipei has lost a lot of its former innocence. ยต
