Laughable survey stories phoned in by hacks

ALL CREDIT TO Carphone Warehouse's press office: its latest Mobile Life report rings every bell on a news editor's desk.

It has sex, money and, that dark horse coming up on the tabloid rails, mobile phones. And, just as important as these, survey results with speakers ready to comment about how people today are, oh so attached to their handsets. Couple of calls, a few stats for the art desk and Bob's your uncle, you have the Daily Meme.

But before you repeat the predictable headlines, ask yourself one simple question. Do you really, really think one in three interviewees would rather give up on a million pounds than have a mobile phone? µ
