64-bit Lightwave tested by Emmy Winner

Hardware Roundup The Wibble

THE great guys from PlanetX64 checks the latest X64 version of Lightwave's 3D 8.5 which is a modelling software which has been used to make well known Sci Fi movies like Andromeda and Stargate. They even get an Emmy award winner to test it on a Dual Opteron 875 with 8GB memory and two SLI Geforce 6800 Ultra. The result is simply breathtaking.

French website Lesnumeriques, covers seven assumptions that one often holds on Camcorders. It was a very eye opening piece of writing that, if you are an avid amateur or looking to buy a camcorder, will help you avoid pitfalls and mistakes. If you thought that optical viewfinders for example are better than digital ones or if you thought Sony uses only Carl Zeiss lenses, then head up lesnumeriques's way to get things cleared out.

Laptoplogic checks the Logitech V20 notebook speakers. They are lightweight, USB powered, do not cost that much and have retractable speaker stands. On top of that, they have a great audio reproduction. Even when not using it in conjunction with laptop, it is still great value. You can even have a look at the video review of the V20.

Techfear checks the Razer Diamondback Plasma LE mouse which is a mouse build for the gamers, by the gamers. While the suffix LE it bears often means sub-level, this particular product is everything but sub par. This is a 1600dpi optical mouse capable of 5.8 megapixels frame rate per seconds which is what laser mice can do. It has seven programmable buttons and is ambidextrous. A pointing marvel.

Sharky Extreme tested the Celeron D 351 which is a 3.2GHz processor. Vince Freeman, the reviewer liked what he saw. It outpaces the Sempron bot in real world and in synthetic testing, trashing AMD's offering in Media encoding and Windows Media Encoder. Definitely the processor to go for if you're looking for business performance. Doesn't perform that good when overclocked and in the gaming department, but then, if you're a corporate buyer, you wouldn't care would you?

Thinkcomputers has the brillant idea to review a dozen of removable storage devices, all of which the reviewer got free, thanks to his benefactors at CES. You've got big and small and you've also got some SD cards and integrated card readers. Intriguing and interesting. Better beware next time when you guys give out free gift, it might end up in a test roundup.

Here are the right links for yesterday's HWR. My apologies. Windows in bed with Linux, Blu Ray Disc, Asrock 939 mobo. µ
