Kingston sinks to low-latency DDR3

Computex 007 And fashionable Flash
Mon Jun 04 2007, 18:48
THERE WERE TWO new things on display at the Kingston stand at Computex, high speed DDR3 and a new fashionable memory stick.

Both build on established product lines with newer bits added.

The Hyperx is a continuation of the enthusiast memory line, from DDR to DDR2 and now DDR3 - no shock to anyone paying attention.

The official part name is the KHX11000D3LL/1G, a 1GB stick running at 1375MHz. It has 7-7-7-20 timings and runs at 1.7v, this is considered low latency in the DDR3 world.

The stick, Datatraveler Style comes in two and 4GB variants, undoubtedly more soon. With size and cost becoming less and less of a differentiator for flash, things inevitably turn to style, and that is where the Datatraveler Style comes in.

You can see the 'high fashion' inserts on the right, they slide into the DTS changing it's personality from work to party just like a mullet.

If that isn't enough for you, you can print your own. There's a contest in the making. µ
