Microsoft wants to answer questions

Hey! Why is Longhorn so late?

WHIZZ KID and knight of the realm, Sir William Gates of Microsoft.Redmond, says that he wants search engines to answer questions.

According to Marketwatch, the Supreme Vole said that links were not the ultimate solution and he wanted search engines to answer direct questions, without evasion.

Volish boffins and even a few boffinettes are apparently working on something called "MSN Answer", in which users can type out a question in conversational 'American' English and Microsoft's search engine would provide the likely answer based on the juxtaposition of words in an Internet search.

Another cunning plan involves setting up a personal search portal called start.com that will allow users to customise the layout. The search portal will remember all previous searches so users don't have to repeatedly type in the same key words.

He, the Gates, also wants to provide enhanced search functions for personal computers and Internet-capable mobile phones.

We're surprised no one else has thought of this yet, but we suppose that's Innovation for You at your Finger Tips. More here. ยต
