Corsair, Samsung cuddle up

Sweet DRAMs are made of this
Tuesday, 15 February 2005, 09:35
DID WE MENTION that Corsair Memory and Samsung Electronics were going to get more chummy? I think we did, somewhere in the ruckus of last week. Well, as if to prove a point, we got this pic straight down the wire from the scurvy pirates themselves. Arrrr.

On the right, Andy Paul, CEO and owner of Corsair. On the left, Samsung Senior Vice President/General Manager of Memory Sales & Marketing, Nam Yong Cho. They are obviously pleased with Corsair's new 6-month deal to buy TCCD RAM chips. Or hijack them on the high seas, perhaps.

The two are clearly enjoying the limelight, although it's interesting to analyse body language and attire. Mr Cho is clearly a veteran in the camera handshake, looking straight into the lense with a firm grip, and with this other arm down out of the way to avoid detracting attention. Andy, in contrast, has his body too far forward, obscuring part of the critical handshake, and his other hand is distractingly tea-potting. However, we do think that his exuberant smile and adorably chunky eyebrows make up for this.

For the sake of full disclosure, Andy Paul did once give this reporter a ride from Fremont to San Francisco in his Jaguar. And very nice it was too. Return offers of a jaunt in a '98 Primera were declined.

*If you can think of an amusing caption for the picture, please mail it over to the usual address. We might just print the funniest ones tomorrow.
