Google founders lose $10 billion

Where did you have it last?
Thursday, 24 January 2008, 08:06

THOSE who like tales of the overvalued falling from their exalted positions might like to know that Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have lost $10 billion between them lately.

The money has been lost over the last month as the US stockmarket tanked.

Valleywag pointed out that pair own 57,806,476 shares of Google stock which was trading at $710.84 a share. A month ago that means that Larry and Sergey's shares were worth $41.1 billion now they have lost about a quarter of this.

To give you an idea of what this loss would look like, the INQ estimates it would be a pile of money about 40 feet high, 100 feet long and 42 feet deep. If they have lost it under the sofa then the sofa would be 100 feet in the air and you think they would notice.

Lofty Imaginations …..

People can’t lose what they’ve never had. Just because someone fancies my orifice and decided that elevating that part of my anatomy for a better view doesn’t mean sunlight might start emanating from it. Of course, when bets are flying and I’d managed to call on those bets at that time, I’ll rope in some idiot’s greed for some piece of my action but that’s just gratification. Unlike that attempt at masquerading real intelligence with “localised” intellect by some Yankee-do-da who declared that, “Eets not a zero-sum game, international trade”, trying to sanctify money politics, when micro becomes macro and then cosmic, it’s all a zero-sum game. Only those who can create energy can declare that it is not a zero-sum game. Imagination is when a tortoise declares that the pond it frequents contains all the water in the universe or as the cosmic hopefuls pine, “there must be water/life everywhere”. “The 5 Elements”, “The Causals”, aka electro-magnetic radiation, is everywhere that the 5 limited senses perceive but when it comes to the brain, aka the higher senses, it becomes stupefying, not imagining. Imagination begins when the limits of experience ends. Probing the higher senses/brain with the 5 senses/3 minds is like asking a chimp to grapple with simple arithmetic even though such ability might bring a shine to the intelligence of presidents everywhere.

Is this Settee on eBay?

INQ please advert this. I'd like to pick that up for a song. I already have just the dustbunnies to go with it.

Actually...

If we assume the sofa is 6' x 3' then your 40x100x42 estimate would, when re-piled to the size of the sofa, place the piece of furniture over 9300 feet in the air, or 1.76 miles making it the tallest structure on earth.

It would make for one hell of a lucrative game of Jenga.

So?

OK, I'll take the $32,545,045,988 that's left over (at current market price before open today).

They're such paupers now.
