MAKER OF PLASTIC TOYS, Apple is facing a criminal investigation over the back-dating of stock options for its senior executives, including the company messiah Steve Jobs.

A spokesperson for the US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California has confirmed that it is investigating Apple's stock options backdating activities.

According to More InfoWorld, the federal action follows an admission by Apple that there had been some wrong doing in the stock option scandal including the faking of a board meeting to approve the dodgy deals.

An internal investigation into the scheme seems to have bent over backwards to clear Steve Jobs of involvement, despite acknowledging that he knew all about it.

Jobs has since hired his own lawyer to field any inquiries which might be coming as a result of the investigation. µ
