ATI to reluctantly release Radeon X1950 XTX on 23rd

Papery launch after all
Thursday, 17 August 2006, 12:36
ATI SEEMS TO have changed its mind again on when to launch its forthcoming R580+ chip.

The chaps in Canada wanted to postpone the launch for three weeks to ensure there was enough supply to do a real hard launch.

ATI's partners insist on showing off the hardware on the 23rd and we know that the sample cards are around.

But it won't be until 14th September that a significant stock of ships swims into the channel. ATI will have a few cards in selected stores on the 23rd but the real availability will happen on the 14th the launch date we suggested.

So the launch date is 23rd but unless you are very fast and lucky, you won't get your card until the second week in September. ยต
