Forsee hasn't turned job down

The dangers of British humour

IT'S BAD enough trying to explain why something written on April 1st (April Fools Day) is untrue, but when a report appears on the hallowed pages of the FT some people take it far too seriously.

For the record, Gary Forsee hasn't turned down a job at A-b Global.
The INQ has just spotted a blog that quoted the FT verbatim as saying, "Gary Forsee, who earlier quit the embattled Sprint Nextel is believed to have been approached for the position [CEO of A-b Global] but has turned it down."

Um. Well, yes it did say that. But A-b Global doesn't exit - it is part of a fictional column called 'Martin Lukes'. If you email him, the message will bounce, ok?

Whoever writes the column – and we have our suspicions – has a great sense of humour and will probably be tickled pink to learn this news.

Columns like this are a great way to have a dig at people. It once famously described Alan Sugar as a "light-weight". µ
