DAAMIT shows off RD690, an HDMI motherboard/chipset

CES 007 Up and running

DAAMIT has RD690 up and running. We managed to snap a few pictures of the machine equipped with the reference board.

RD690 is AMD's upcoming chipset with integrated graphics and native HDMI support. The new chipset should be able to cope with Vista just fine. We will try it as soon as we get our hands on it.

DAAMIT also showcased a lot of integrated boards from its partners so they are set to blast off RD690 soon. We expect to see first boards in late January, early Febuary time.

We saw live demonstration of HD quality video running on the board. It outputs the signal via HDMI port integrated on the board. The fun part is that the chipset works in notebooks as well so you can expect some notebooks with such a graphics.

The graphic core is similar to X700 and should have four rendering pipelines and end up significantly faster than any other competition stuff. It beats all integrated chipset from Nvidia or Intel, at least that is the plan.
