COUCH POTATOES/EXTREME GAMERS will find this review quite enjoyable. XS Reviews sat down to test the Renegade Gaming Chair today, and it seems they just couldn’t get enough of it (the lazy gits). The RGC comes complete with integrated speakers, 12 vibration motors (yes, it massages too!), headphone jacks and a cup holder for your drinks. The only thing is it comes in bits and pieces and you have to assemble it, so let’s hope you’re handy with the tools. Go here and be submitted to read about this comfy chair.
Michael Lin at Hot Hardware has been testing the new Samsung Syncmaster 2493HM, a very full-featured 24-inch screen that doesn’t blow the $400 barrier. Samsung resorted to using a TN panel to keep costs down, but you do get HDMI (simpler when dealing with such hi-res), a USB hub and some puny integrated speakers. It’s built into a quality housing, thinks Michael, and you won’t be disappointed by the performance. Give it a go, right here.
TechPowerUp nabbed a very overclocked Galaxy 9500GT, and we mean *very*. The 9500GT OC as it is known, bumps the core speed by 250MHz, all the way up to 800MHz, and the memory an additional 100MHz to 900MHz. They’re using a dual slot heat-piped cooler to achieve this result. The very very good news is that Galaxy is pitching this HD 3650/8600GTS squasher at just $89 retail. Very good indeed.
TweakTown is completing its two-part guide to PC Audio by publishing the second segment on sound cards (the first was on speakers). According to James, buying a sound card, once you’ve decided on what kind of audio hardware you want, is just like buying a stereo... listen before you buy, although some stores won’t make life easy on you... You can find part two here, and part one, here.
We’ve heard just how nasty the GMA X4500HD was expected to be, but Phoronix tried it anyway, and we can’t say they were disappointed. The Intel IGP does offer some substantial advantages over the Nvidia and ATI parts, even offering day zero support for Linux. Michael sees it as a great improvement over previous parts, but still a little bit below what gamers require. Great for HTPCs, tho’, in case you want to build a Linux-based one. Samsung’s Q-series laptops have been widely regarded as very good machines with a decent feature set and price. Now, Sammy’s bringing out the Q210, their newest 12.1-incher with everything you’d expect from Centrino 2: a P8400, 3GB of DDR2-667, 320GB of HD and nvidia’s 9200M GS (256MB). It’s battery life is pretty good too, and the price, well... you’d think one of these toys would cost a lot, but no... it’s actually quite reasonable coming in at £700. Xbit brings us the absolute geek of a review called the “Adaptec RAID Controller’s Roundup”. Yes, it’s a 100% RAID Controller affair for workstation, server and hardcore freaks. Some are inexpensive and offer a good solution for your computer’s performance, but Alexey says that if you want real performance, don’t skimp on the RAID controller card. Read all about it, here. µ
As tweaktown now use anti-adblocker code I'd suggest that they shouldn't be included in your hardware roundup.
Is for computer newbies looking at buying a sound card, things to look for etc.
Not very geeky, no comparisons, nothing chunky, basically thin.
It's a good thing they tested Linux, because on Windows the X45 really stinks!
simply disable javascript on their site and it stops the ad-blocking detection from working.
Are these renegade chairs really as good as the <a href="http://www.pyramatgamingchairs.co.uk">pyramats</a>
