Five hundred AMD employees axed

Pretty serious
Wednesday, 5 November 2008, 22:42

AMD HAS cut 500 jobs in a world-wide cull.

A general swing of the axe saw workers in a variety of functions packing up their spanners and staplers.

One senior engineer even bade a fond farewell to the INQ.

"It is pretty serious," he said. He was one of 150 from AMD's home from home in Austin, Texas to go.

The company said the cuts are in line with its statements that it will cut a workforce of around 15,500 to 12,500 by early 2009. ยต

What do you expect?

Look at the economy, what do you people expect when you keep Bush in the white house for 8 years, you expect your economy to be perfect when you're spending Billions on a useless war every year? hahaha... Anyways, i'm glad barrack is president now, unforuntately he will be cleaning up bush's crap for a few years, so hopefully he can get a 2nd term and actually correct your precious American economy.

All part of AMD's 'Asset Light' strategy?

Nice Strategy for Execs

Lets give Hector a $3 million dollar bonus for running the company into the ground and lets cut jobs to align the expenses. What a strategy!

AMD

as one of my friends says, will not exist as an entity in five years. The company will probably be sold off piecemeal. Anyone want to bet against that?
