Register gives readers worm

Sympathy we have heard of it

THE OTHER Plaice tech news site, the Rogister has had a bit of trouble over the weekend.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the site was forced to discontinue serving banner ads from third party ad serving company Falk AG.

Apparently the Falk AG adds were... um Falked with the Bofra/Iframe exploit. This means that if anyone visited the site and clicked on one of their adverts they were immediately penetrated through their backdoor by a Bofra worm. In a single click the poor readers' Internet Explorer would are belong to the hackers.

In an official statement to the Aussie media, an unnamed Rogerister employee said that it was advising anyone who visited the site between 6am and 12.30pm GMT on Saturday using any Windows platform bar XP SP2 to check their PCs with anti-virus software that had been updated.

The unnamed Rogister employee did not say how many readers it infected with the worm. But we are sure they will not mind, they are a nice couple. ยต
