Is the new 8800GTS really better than 8800GT?

HW Roundup Madshrimps go really mad with 30 CPU coolers
Thursday, 8 November 2007, 19:06

IN ORDER TO clarify the difference between old and new 8800GTS cards, Hardware Canucks got their hands on new 8800GTS 640MB. EVGA's SSC board now has 112 processors, same number as recently launched 8800GT. Take a look at how this baby performed here.

Legit Reviews took a look at GigaByte's GA-MA69GM-S2H motherboard. Yes, this is another motherboard based on AMD's ultra-sucessful 690G chipset, but since we will have to wait until May 2008 for the successor with DX10.1 support, this is your ticket to ride for Grandmas'n'Grandpas computer.

IT-Review.net brought reviews of Gainward 8800GT and GigaByte Radeon 2600XT Silent Pipe II. Both graphics cards target vastly different markets and it will be interesting how these products will position themselves after next weeks release of ATI's line-up.

For lovers of water-cooling action, Hardware Crew reviewed a reservoir designed especially for the Laing pump - Xirex LiquiPLEX DDC1. Babelfish translation is not the best one, but since this is the first time we have received a review of Xirex product, it might be worth taking a look.

If you prefer to stay dry, here's an interesting review from DriverHeaven. Akasa's REVO cooler is quite an interesting concept that looks like regular heatpipe coolers, but in fact the product is made in Europe. Radiator part is manufactured by same manufacturer that delivers radiators to Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz.

If one cooler does not suit your need, how about a review of more than 30 CPU heatsinks? Madshrimps were mad enough to go through the 30 cooler roundup, and the winner(s) just might be manufacturers and products that you did not expect. If you're on a market for a new CPU cooler, don't wait – read this l'Inq.

And to put everything into a case, you can take a look at ever-expanding GigaByte product line. This time around, Techgage got GigaByte iSOLO 210, a mid-sized tower case. To stay on the same page, lads from Virtual-Hideout tested Cooler Master's CM 690 ATX case.

When it comes to peripherials, TweakTown tested something unusual, and yet it should have been usual in todays' world of instant communication. Netgear's Skype phone under cryptic name of SPH200D got reviewed here.

On the other hand, if you're a gamer, you can never stop trying to acquire that competitive advantage and who knows, perhaps Ideazon's MERC keyboard might be the ticket that you're hoping for. Techgage brings the low-down.

Is that really the new GTS

Thats a G80 with some of the stream processors unlocked. Is that what the new GTS will be, or will it be G92 based?

There are few more tweaks on G92 than just stream processors.

Bad review

How can you review two cards to see what's different when they aren't even testing the same cards? They need to test an older 8800GTS 640Mb version as that's what is essential! Why test only the 320Mb version as the equivalent card when it isn't?

Pointless!

that review of "new" 8800GTS 640mb(one with 112 SP) is completely pointless, since they don't compare it vs a "old"(96 SP) 640MB GTS, no they do it vs a 320mb and and GTX.

so basically it tells us jack, that the new GTS is worse than GT and better than 320MB - which was blatent. what we wanted to know was the difference between a old 8800GTS 640mb and new GTS 640mb.
