Intel carries on crafting Tukwila

Tape out date in offing
Tue Oct 31 2006, 11:19
THE LONG and tangled tale of Intel's Tukwila processor is still not over but the firm is pressing on with development.

According to some guy I met at TGI Fridays in Bangalore, there's been a heap of growing pains but it's now anticipated Mr Tukwila will tape out in early 2008.

The team, this guy said, had a lot to contend with, including tooling and physical problems, and also had to integrate the former HP Fort Collins team.

Tukwila goes together with Poulson like love goes with marriage, but unfortunately it seems the chips will never have their happy day at the altar, because Mr Poulson is delayed indefinitely. µ
