AMD-Intel antitrust paper trail 137 miles long

Special Master gets letter from Intel
Tue Jul 25 2006, 16:19
MY DEAREST Your Honor Vincent J Poppiti,

You probably weren't expecting this. I am a lawyer for the Intel Corporation and as you have probably noticed, AMD (and perhaps now ATI too!) have launched an antitrust suit in Delaware against our company.

Just a little while ago, AMD asked you to modify the "protective order" you put together, but we have something to say about this.

Both us and those Sunnyvale swine negotiated the protective order over an eight month period, with several face to face meetings, multiple telephone conferences and numerous drafts exchanged.

Perhaps you recall that you, as a Special Master put together a 117 page opinion about objections and resolving other matters.

Then, after AMD complained, you let slip that the provisions of the proposed protective order meant documents wouldn't be confidential "forever". AMD noted that the paper document production could extend for over 137 miles.

Do you think that perhaps you could change your mind about AMD's objections to your recommended decision?

I remain your humble servant,

The Intel Corporation µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
