Microsoft talks "Holodeck" without revealing details

CES 007 Microzilla beats her little chest

MISTER CHRIS Donahue, one of the key lads in the Microsoft DirectX team, said that the ultimate goal of gaming is something he dubs "Holodeck".

We could not agree more if we understood what "Holodeck means". The next DX will be more programmable and the ultimate team's aim is to get to an ultimate 3D realistic environment. Sort of almost like real life.

Each year we will get closes to it but it will certainly take a long time to get there. The INQ editor will probably be dead by then. We don't know what kind of DirectX you need for said "Holodeck". We are probably talking about DirectX 20 or later to get to the ultimate goal.

I hope that we will all live to see it, excepting Mageek. Imagine the processing power that you would need for such calculations, image projections and interactions. But we agree it is the "ultimate goal". Chrissie beam us all up Por Favor. Pictured below is Mr Donahue, looking to the future. ยต
