THE PRESIDENT of the Italian Vespa Online Association has kitted out his scooter with a monitor, and a Via EPIA motherboard and will use it to cross the Mojave desert.

The so-called Vespa Puter is kitted out with an eight inch touch screen monitor and a USB web cam on the handlebar. He'll use it to upload photos to an FTP server in Italy. And when the Vespa gets to places without hot spots - although the Mojave is just one giant hot spot - it also has a satellite phone so he'll never be out of touch with other Vespa users.

Dual hard drives are fitted to the step board, while there's a web cam on the front of the machine.

The Vespa Online Association was formed as a way for Italian lovers of the machine to keep in touch over the internet. µ
