AMD releases 5200+ Athlon X2 chip

Numbers game continues
Wednesday, 6 September 2006, 19:24
CHIP FIRM Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said it has released an Athlon 64 X2 dual core chip dubbed the 5200+.

We all know that these numbers are meaningless but AMD also said HP has released a business desktop PC range, the DC 5750, which uses a number of processors including this 5200+ semiconductor.

If you buy 1,000 of these things, they cost $403 each - AMD said they are available right now, but didn't say how many of them are up for sale, nor whether its channel partners would get a bite of the cake before HP. Or Dell, for that matter.
