Halo 3 torrent floods the net

Assclown leakage
Sat Sep 22 2007, 13:14
JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO five lucky folk in Stavanger, Norway, were able to buy the much-prophesied game of the year "Halo 3". Now the unavoidable is happening, Halo 3 has hit the ‘Net in a less-than-official guise, six days before the official launch date in the States - seven days for us €urotrash. 'Tis surely the meaning of life, is it not?

If you happen to own an Xbox 360 from the States and have a Halo addiction or simply turn a blind eye to Microsoft making truckloads of dosh, you might - or might not - have noticed that Halo 3 is torrenting around in that place we call the Interweb. It's the NTSC version, it seems, you lucky American rogues - and just 7.3GB of it broken down into 154 RAR files.

According to the users' comments it's the real thing - I just can't be bothered to break the law right now - but you would need a modded Xbox 360 to run the game.

Anyway, don't worry about this being the last installment of the Halo Trilogy, it's not. Let's face it, like the age-old tradition of not copy-protecting Windows CDs, this torrent can end up being a pretty decent viral marketing tool for the Vole. Halo doesn't end here you've got the upcoming Halo Wars; Halo the Movie, produced by none other than kiwi Peter Jackson); Marvel's™ Halo™ comic™ books™, and surely many many more things to satisfy your Halo addiction.

On the other hand this torrent is signed by a chappie named “Assclown” (raise eyebrow now). Ironically the Urban Dictionary defines this term as “A person who by ignorance or stupidity takes up unnecessary amounts of your time.” - I think violating the law (in most countries - I'm almost sure this is a non-issue in Russia) over the course of several hours (if not dozens of), through the download of pirated software which requires tracker registration at the source, qualifies, but who am I to deny you your destiny? µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
