Intel buries hatchet with Chinese communicationists

Smoke heap big peace pipe

THE WORLD'S LARGEST maker of chips has buried the hatchet with Shenzhen Donjin Communication Technology, the Chinese maker of telecommunications and network equipment.

Chipzilla was incandescent with rage in 2004 when it found out that the Chinese were using something that looked like its technology in its for touch-pad telephone systems. Shenzhen Donjin countersued in 2005 claiming that the chipmaker engaged in monopolistic practices. Now today the two are chums and not talking about any legal action.

A joint statement says that continuing lawsuits don't benefit each company's best commercial interests.

Much water has flowed under the bridge since Intel started getting snarky with Shenzhen Donjin. Firstly it needs to sell technology to the Chinese including the telecommunications outfit it is suing. Getting all litigious will not help its smiley smiley approach with Beijing either. It could also be embarrassing if Shenzhen Donjin had any evidence against Chipzilla misbehaving in China. µ
