Sub $100 HD-DVD player planned

Toshiba give away

TOSHIBA IS experimenting with offering a $99 HD-DVD player.

According to DVD Dossier starting from July 22, 2007, Toshiba will start selling the kit. It is even throwing in three HD DVD disks.

The offer is only for a week, but it does seem that Toshiba might be testing the old "sell the razor cheap and make money back on the blades" idea.

It might only be an offer for attendees of the Home Media Expo, where DVD Dossier saw the advert, but it could make some sense.
