NOTWORKING site Facebook appears to have made a huge PR cock-up by telling people in Liverpool that they will have to join the Manchester network.
The website refused to create a networking group for Liverpool and told told Scousers they would have to join the Manchester network instead.
Facebook does not seem to understand that such a move is a bit like twinning Tehran with Tel Aviv. It might look good on paper, and might even help understanding, but there are a few issues between the two that need resolving.
Irate Liverpudlians, who gained 30,000 signatures to create a Liverpool Network, have been snubbed.
Apparently Facebook failed to recognise that Liverpool, which is this year's European Capital of Culture, is a UK city.
Like many disaffected cultures, the Liverpudlians have formed a group called the "Liverpool Network Ultimatum" group and have threatened to leave Facebook en masse on April 2 unless a Liverpool network is created.
So far more than 2,704 members have joined.

Good luck with leaving facebook..

'You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!'
There is now a Liverpool Network on Facebook as of today. I've just joined it!
Similarly, Southampton doesn't exist on Facebook and so we are forced into the rival city Portsmouth network. As you can imagine, this doesn't make us very happy. A campaign now containing over 11,000 members was started a long, long time ago but to no avail. The geniuses at Facebook admin just won't listen. I'd rather be in no network than Portsmouth!

Dan
Apparently we were supposed to join a Pompey group.

I lost interest too quickly to see whether the baseball bat of snese was ever effectively applied to them,
Bradford users have been having to use Leeds Network because they haven't created a network for Bradford too.. Quite a lot of users in groups petitioning for that too.
