Adaptec bundling deal krazy

Easy CD seedy easy
Sunday, 12 August 2001, 13:54
OUR VERY OWN Sid Viscous, who compiles the INQ forum summary every week points to one of those anomalies that happen in our krazy krackpot PC biz.

He says that the retail price of Adaptec's Easy CD creator is usually listed at between $85 and $99.

But at his local "Krap" chain store, he can buy a cheap [inexpensive Mike, you're fired. Ed.] CD writer for $49.95 after rebate.

It's bundled with a complete copy of Adaptec Easy CD creator.

So if he, or anyone else, needs or wants the software, it's much cheaper to buy the CD writer than to buy the software.

"What kind of freaking business model is that?" he asks incredulously. "Is it any wonder the e-stock crap is going down the toilet?"

We await Adaptec's equally measured response. µ
