JOOST MAY BE SET to fire the storm of TV networks just like Skype blasted classical telephony and helped put VoIP in the mainstream now (although technically, Skype uses p2p, not the VoIP protocol).

The developers have just released their latest beta version - 0.8. This packs a brand new CoreAVC video decoder and support for more operating systems. If you own a product from Apple, it has to have Chipzilla's processor inside so you can enjoy Joost.

You can apply to be part of the closed beta programme, here. It should not be a big problem to start seeing broadcast world in a different way.

After v0.8 gets its bugs sorted, v0.9 will be a final check before v1.0, which is set for a release this year - if all things go according to plan. µ
