iPod Red to launch

Backed by Oprah, Bono... oh God
Friday, 13 October 2006, 15:06
OPRAH WINFREY and Bono are combining to boost a new iPod for charity, says Apple.

The pair will act as boosters for the iPod Nano Red, with a percentage of sales given over to fund the fight against AIDS.

As the name suggests, the 4GB device will be dressed in blazing scarlet and a US TV ad will appear today featuring the chat-show media magnate and stadium-anthem shouter. The Red theme has already been used in a Motorola Razr phone and AmEx credit card, of course.

If you're dreading the thought of Christmas conversations with the in-laws, this photo (sub required) of Oprah and Bono, for once with mouth shut, might make you feel less bad. At least you weren't forced to tune in to that gig. µ
