AMD Zone celebrates five years

Hardware Roundup We wibble, we wibble
Mon Jul 14 2003, 12:26
IN JUST A FEW weeks, specialist AMD site, AMD Zone, will celebrate its fifth anniversary. The site is based in Austin, Texas - a great spot which we haven't been to for many a year. Not far from Austin is a lake where myself and Peter Jackson were once privileged to see the very famous British UK journalist Guy Kewney take off all his clothes and wander into the deep. Peter and myself declined, and Guy had to suffer fire ant attack - those pesky little.. er pests... No, we don't have a snap. This image is burned into our brains, probably forever. Anyway, to celebrate, AMD Zone is holding a LAN party on the 26th of this month.

Rambus' XDR technology, formerly coded Yellowstone, won't be out for a fair while yet. But Ace's Hardware takes a look at the technology, which is definitely worth watching. And because Sony will use it in its future Playstation "cell" designs, it brings us one step nearer to a future date for this futuristic product, held back by the enormous costs of development.
